Harriet exited the limo to the shade of half a dozen umbrella's, two black sheets, and a dozen guards. Whomever the idiot Photographer was that decided a vampire should have a shoot a 7a.m. deserved to die a slow and very painful death, preferably by Harriet own hands. Despite popular lore the sun would not put her to sleep with its rising, it would however burn her to a crisp if she were to step directly into its rays. Thus the need for so many guards and sun blocking contraptions.
Walking into the studio Harriet was stunned to find it absolutely empty. No props, no backdrop, no wardrobe, and no photographer...."What the $#%@ is going on around here?" Harriet grumbled as she picked up the phone and called Medusa.
"Didn't you hear" Medusa snickered across the line "The Photographer decided he wanted to do a location shoot. You should find him at Pandora's Farm in Neverglade....In the fields, of course.... You might want to wear sunblock I heard its going to be a scorcher today."
Harriet rolled her eyes and promptly hung up with Medusa after getting the Photographers number. "There has been a mistake" she said to the simpleton across the line.
"No mistake except you being late." he responded.
"I'm a vampire you twit." Harriet snarled.
"That hardly excuses you from being prompt." the Twit shot back.
"Look here you son of a *****, I AM A VAMPIRE, that means the sun would kill me. There can be no location shoots at 7 a.m. If you want to do a location shoot it has to be in the evening after sunset. Now, you can either return to the studio, in which case I will wait... or you can find yourself another model, if Medusa will allow you to. Whats it going to be?"
Four hours later Harriet finished the two hour shoot in the most ridiculous set of clothes she had worn since she was five. The Photographer was steaming, the crew were exhausted and Harriet was glad the day was coming to an end.
On Her way out the door Harriet felt someone coming up behind her. Turning quickly Harriet was able to get out of the way as the Photographer came barreling towards her screaming "We'll see how much sun you can take" and plowed into her assistant Tamra knocking her into the sun. Tamra went up in flames like a pyre on a feast night. The Photographer burning with her.
Acting quickly three of the guards dove onto Tamara with the black sheets. The flames extinguished, they quickly carried Tamara into the limo. Harriet joining them under the shade of the umbrellas...The Photographer they left on the ground in a heap. Third degree burns covering most of his body. Harriet hoped he died slowly, He deserved it. The shoot was over.
The catacombs were damp and chilly. The early autumn rain typical in Neverglade had soaked the ground thoroughly, making life for its inhabitants uncomfortable at best. Above ground dozens of angry humans gathered in the downpour with torches and stakes. The scene was almost comical, like an old black and white monster movie, with VanHelsing leading the charge against the unruly beasts.
Unfortunately Harriet wasn't seeing much humor in the situation. The death of Bruno Ferrari, or the idiot Photographer, had inspired a wave of Human on Vamp violence not seen in over a decade. Burnings, stakings, and reports of Vamps held and tortured were coming almost hourly. Harriet could have dealt with all of this if it weren't for the fact that the "Blood Council" was holding her responsible.
She had woken in the evening to find two of Lord Darius' goons had come to drag her before the council for its judgment on the situation. So for hours she had stood, shackled like an animal, before the ruling lords and ladies while they discussed punishment. Harriet had tried to plead her case. The man had tried to kill her and had almost killed Tamra in the process. She hadn't lifted a finger to hurt him, she just hadn't been willing to help him either.
The council remained adamant that someone be turned over to appease the humans. Something had to stop the violence and they saw no other way. So judgment had come. She or Tamra were the only two vampires on the scene when the incident occurred so one of them would be handed over. Deciding who was the easy part.
They would duel. Not to the death, but to the last man standing. Loser would be handed over as a show of so called justice. Winner would be free.
Harriet wanted to be free, but she knew that Tamra did also. Despite the still unhealed burns on her body Tamra fought like the beast she was. Unfortunately for her Harriet was now ruthless enough not to hesitate when striking her friend. Not if it meant saving herself.
Scores:
Round 1: Style: Harriet looks adorable and so “sweet”. Great job! 55/50
Presentation: A fabulous idea, and I loved the story. 55/50
Round 2: Style: Love the outfit. Fits nicely for a vampire. 55/50
Presentation: Loved the story and the burnt skin. My only issue was Harriet’s facial expression. I was hoping for a vicious, ruthless look, not a scared one. 50/50
Total Score: 107.5
